Open House
April 16th, 2007 6:12 PM

Well this past weekend I did an Open House at my listing in Norfolk, Virginia. It is a cute little house at 526 Meads Road. Traditional Cape Cod on a quite street.  Very slow day even with sending 35 invatations to the area. I was hoping to meet a few new buyers and hopefully get this little home undercontract.

Looks like the traffic might be picking up. I seem to be getting lots of calls in the starter price range again as well.

Okay, the season is picking up. Those of you who were thinking of selling it might just be a good time to list. Remember if your looking to get top dollar your house needs to shine. If your tired of that old worn carpet guess what the buyer iwll be too. The Virginia Beach Real Estate market is starting to move. Im still seeing price movment and many areas are seeing about a 2-5% from list price on closing prices.

Buyers get out there and shop. Norfolk, Virginia Beach  Chesapeake all have great inventory. Now is the time

Virginia Beach Tax Rate
April 10th, 2007 1:58 PM

I figured my first post should be about something that is happening right now. As a Virginia Beach resident Im very stirred up about the tax rate and the new assements. Ive have no noticed the assesed value of my current home almost meets the "retail "value of the selling price. With that being said when will the assement be higher than the retail value ? We all and know the report of a slower market. I tend to agree with the "old timers " in real estate it is really just correcting its self and becoming more balanced.

But now back to the assements. This fee travels all the way to the bottom what I mean by that is I now have to raise my rents on the other homes I have as well now just to meet the mortgage. So not only will some home oweners no be abel to pay but now renters are now haveing to cover the bill.

Recent artical in the Virginia Pilot demonstrates the uproar some are feeling
